Q & A with filmmaker Jen Lawhorne afterwards
.

The documentary is about an experience where the connections between two worlds become stronger and solidarity tears down walls. "The Little Trip of a Dream" portrays lives of undocumented people living in Richmond, Va., the lives they left behind in Mexico and the reality of crossing the U.S./Mexico border.

The documentary tells the story of an American woman who during a trip to Mexico meets the village of her undocumented friends with whom she works back in Richmond, Va. In interviews with the community, the woman, Jen, comes to understand her friends' motivations for migrating to the U.S. Jen also runs into former co-workers and her friends' family members who stayed behind. Curious, Jen travels to the U.S./Mexico border to see the conditions in which her friends had to travel. There, she meets activists who are trying to help migrants and other people who don't want migrants to enter the U.S. Jen explores the border and its different manifestationsand when she returns to Richmond to share her experience with her friends, she sees them with new eyes.

Filmmaker Jen Lawhorne will be there to talk about her film and answer any questions the audience may have. For more information visit:

August 12: Protest at CFCF in Philly

Families of Prisoners Unite!

Stop Abuse/Torture of Your Loved One in Prison!

Join Human Rights Coalition in Protest!!

Rally: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 10am-2pm

@ CFCF prison, 7901 State Road, Philadelphia (rides available- see below)

In 2009, more and more human lives are going to be devastated by prison abuse and torture at the hands of prison administrators and guards of county and state prison systems in Pennsylvania. What we do, or fail to do, will prove decisive to the coming battle over whose interests in society shall prevail – the needs of the people to have prisoners returned to their communities as mentally stable, rehabilitated, law-abiding productive citizens or the greed of corporations, politicians, and prison agencies, who insist that the building of more prisons, incarcerating the poor, and abusing/torturing prisoners in the name of corrections which overrides the Pennsylvania and United States constitutions, justice, and the safety of prisoners and society.

The Human Rights Coalition (H.R.C.) invites you to come together in Philly on August 12, 2009 in front of C.F.C.F. Philadelphia county prison on State Road and later this year (to be announced) at D.O.C. Camp Hill for protest demonstrations aimed at bringing public attention to the abuse/torture by prison guards, inhumane prison conditions, and the absence of prisoner programs at county prisons.
