[Lavalibrary] LAVA Library Staff Meeting Minutes (and A Friendly Reminder)

LAVA Library Staff Meeting Minutes 8:00PM - 8:30PM (Chris, Corina & Jeff W. in attendance)

Staffing Coordinator:

Jeff W. will be the staffing coordinator for September and October, and as such will attend the LAVA Space general meeting on September 9th.  He has been given phone lists of people to call to try and fill up the calendar but may not be able to get to much recruiting and other Staffing Coordinator duties in this first month.

Filling up the Calendar:

Jeff W. will be making phone calls over Labor Day weekend to try to get folks to staff and fill up our days, as well as mentioning the need at the general meeting, stressing that the Library is the most public part of the LAVA Space and everyone involved in its use should consider staffing even just one day a month.

Tabling at the Block Party on Saturday 8/30/2008 (1000 block of N. 46th St.):

Chris will talk with Andy Switzer about helping out with this and trying to publicize the Library there.

Outreach/Recruitment:

Chris mentioned trying to make a point of setting up a $1 Books table outside during shifts to bring more people in to the library--this is something everyone should keep in mind, especially if the shift isn't particularly busy ($1 Books are on the bottom shelf of the bookshelf by the basement door).  Corina will work on recruiting new staffers and possibly looking for places to advertise our need for staffers.  Everyone involved in the LAVA Library should try to get their friends who might have an interest to try staffing as well.
