Hello, LAVA lovers!

A happy soon-to-be chilly early autumn update from the Lancaster Avenue
Autonomous Zone (LAVA)! Thanks to everyone who continues to support LAVA
through all of our various excitement.

Here are some upcoming events at the space in October:

--Ongoing
** Monthly Food Not Bombs meetings - first Wednesday of the month at 7pm.
Food distro - Wed. afternoons, Monthly ** LAVA meeting - every 2nd
wednesday at 7pm. (next one is October 11)
** LAVA library open every Wed. from 4-9pm and Sunday from 1-6pm.

-- Saturday, October 7: 1pm to 4pm
Wooden Shoe bookstore retreat. (closed to public) For more information

*Issues Through Film*: Geoclan monthly video screening. "GeoClan believes
in creating positive change in our communities and inciting hope through
education and art/culture. There are a host of films that have positive
messages and/or important information that many people don't get a chance
to see because of the Hollywood studios and the consistent need to show
more violence and sex than anything with true meaning or something that
actually deals with reality You and I live in! With that said we bring to
you Issues Through Film, a series of film viewing and discussion sessions
that will shed light on films, whether they be from the big studios or not,

ART OPENING for installations done in the space as part of the ongoing LAVA
art project, with a special gallery showing featuring artists from We Never
Say Never, the Belmont Neighborhood Association. Come for food, DJs,
art-in-progress and more. Artists will include Zoe Cohen, Harmony
Thompson, Jodi Netzer, Michael Schwartz, Mary Tasillo, JJ Tiziou, Beth
Uzwiak, Bilwa, Dominic Lepore, Eian Weissman, Elysa Voshell, HAAK
Collective, Sarah Phillips and more.

A lot more than this will be happening at LAVA in October. Stay tuned to

Immigrants' rights groups used LAVA for banner-making workshops and actual
banner-making.

Philly IMC monthly video screening: te local premiere of “i”­the first
full-length film produced about the global Indymedia network. (for more

*Issues Through Film*: Geoclan inaugural monthly video screening and
discussion of Michael Moore's "Farenheit 9-11." For more information on

Before the screening LAVA hosted an anti-gentrification dance/art/puppetry
performance by Washington DC's Bit 'N Brace Project

Speaker on Political Prisoners and Repression in the US. Jeff Mackler one
of the leaders of the Lynne Stewart Defense CTTE. (Lynne's sentencing is
the following Monday)

-- Saturday, September 23:
FLYING V!! Music for Headphones -- House of Fire -- My Best Fiend -- the
December Sound -- the Asteroid #4, 8pm

-- Saturday, September 30:
